Birthday Celebrations

It’s as if we said this 3 years ago (see the Archives), but as we enter 2026, the main product set of Helmsman, Sceptre and Overlord remain in use in the UK and the EU.

Sceptre celebrated its 40th birthday a couple of years ago, and we are now confident that Helmsman will still be around to celebrate its own 40th birthday in 2028.

Fujitsu's VME (now MVE) operating system also passed a major milestone towards the end of 2024 when it reached 50, a remarkable achievement having moved with the times from running on proprietary hardware to now running on 'off the shelf' servers.
